5 colors to wear for spring-summer 2024

FASHION

What will be the colors to wear for this spring-summer 2024? Red, green, white... Here are the shades to adopt in the summertime.

5 trendy colors for spring-summer 2024

After a year 2023 marked by the omnipresence of pink, a trend we owe to Greta Gerwig’s feature starring Margot Robbie, 2024 will open the road to five new colors for a trendy spring-summer. In addition to Peach Fuzz, a blushy, soft peach hue recommended by Pantone, red, green, white, and blue, metallic palettes will be the stars of this season.

Bright red for a dazzling look

Already trending in 2023 and back on the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 catwalks, red is a sure bet for spring-summer 2024. More quiet luxury than femme fatale, red can be worn with an overcoat at Hermès, a strapless leather dress at Bottega Veneta or a shirt-and-pants ensemble with a discreet pattern at Burberry. For a sexier silhouette, Jaquemus offered a draped mini-dress in the collection “Les Sculptures”, already sported by Kylie Jenner, while Alexander McQueen unveiled a transparent lace dress worn by singer Yseult on the catwalk.

Green is making a comeback

Highsnobiety has recently proclaimed green as next winter’s rival to red. The color makes a victorious debut this spring, with Maximilian Davis’ stunning and sober fir-green leather suit at Ferragamo, Sabato de Sarno’s flashy, chartreuse green jacket and micro-short duo on his first Gucci runway, and Donatella Versace’s little, sixties-inspired, pastel-green suit. At Saint Laurent, a knitted khaki green mini-dress conjures up the iconic safari jacket, while Acne Studios showcases a mint green, silk cut-out dress, worn by Rosalía in a black version for the show.

White for a clean aesthetics

Although white dresses have already been cited by Numéro as a key trend for spring-summer 2024, such as the lace one seen at Chloé, the shirt design by Valentino or the tee-shirt by Luar, the quintessential pure color can also be found on many other pieces of the summer wardrobe. Preferably worn as a total look for maximum impact, white is minimalist when paired with a blazer and blue jeans at Proenza Schouler, and extremely elegant with an aviator-style jumpsuit at Saint Laurent.

Shining bright like metal

There’s nothing like a good metallic look to shine anytime of day. This spring-summer 2024, metallic hues are sported at daytime, such as Dior’s a gold mesh dress softened by a Toile de Jouy Soleil coat, Prada’s tailored shorts and silver fringed belt, or Miu Miu’s gold embossed lamé dress. Finally, we dare to wear a Rabanne silver sequined dress or a Stella McCartney seventies-inspired suit in pale gold jacquard at night.

The discreet breakthrough of baby blue

Gone are the memories of romance and childhood. This spring-summer 2024, baby blue is sported on sensual or casual looks. At Alaïa, Pieter Mulier plays on contrasts with a sheer dress over a tone-on-tone bodysuit, while The Attico uses the color on a party girl, lace dress. At Gucci, baby blue tones down a leather pencil skirt, while GCDS dares a total streetwear look in monogrammed denim. Last but not least, Alberta Ferretti offers an elegant striped pajama suit, a perfect match for your holiday wardrobe.
